Information Communications and Media Act of Bhutan 2018
A class of 14 ICT officials from various Dzongkhags and Ministries/Agencies in Thimphu have started the training on “Android based Mobile Application Development with Java” at Bhutan Innovation Technology Centre (BITC), Thimphu TechPark Limited (TTPL) from 2 April 2018. This will be 19 days intensive course, focusing on the development of Mobile Application on Android. With this training the department expects the trained ICT officials to launch 3-4 mobile application by the end of the training.
The Bhutan-1 Workshop organized by the Department of Information Technology & Telecom, Ministry of Information and Communications, in collaboration with the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) and College of Science and Technology (CST) was held on 20th March, 2018 at CST, Phuentsholing. The event was graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay along with Hon’ble Secretary, Dasho Karma W. Penjor, Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) and the Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand, Tshewang C. Dorji.
The 3 day event, which started on 16th March 2018, came to an end yesterday. The event was graced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay along with the Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs, Lyonpo Dawa Gyeltshen and Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications, Dasho Kinley W Penjor. The winners of the competition were given prizes worth ranging from 100,000 to 800,000.
The Bhutan National Startup Weekend 2018, was officially opened by the Hon'ble Minister, Lyonpo D.N Dhungyel on 15th March, 2018. The 3 day event starts from 16th March where 164 pitches will be made by aspiring youths and students from 7 colleges.

The Open Group-Bangalore-India, invited Hon’ble Minister of Information and Communications to deliver a plenary session during “the Open Group Conference and Awards for Innovation and Excellence” on 23rd February 2018.

International girls in ICT day was celebrated on 23rd April this year.
Due to the pandemic situation, the department conducted the event online wherein participants were asked to use our social medial frame/filter created for the event.
They were asked to write how ICT impacts their lives.
Top 6 were selected as winners from around 46 participants and were awarded the prize.
