As per Article 2 Section 19(p) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan, six Executives were appointed as the Government Secretary with effect from July 13, 2016 out of which Dasho Karma Wangchuk Penjor, was appointed as the Secretary for the Ministry of Information & Communications. Dasho Karma Wangchuk Penjor served as the secretary of Dratshang Lhentshog prior to this appointment.

This prestigious global prize recognizes outstanding contributions from women and men (individuals and organizations) in addressing the digital gender divide by embracing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to empower women and girls.

Every year the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) observes the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD) on 17th May. The purpose of WTISD is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide. WTISD theme for the year 2016 is “ICT Entrepreneurship for Social Impact”.

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MOIC), Department of IT and Telecom joined the rest of the world in celebrating “World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD)” 2019. The celebration was graced by the Hon’ble Minister of MoEA, representatives of Asian Development Bank, the industry; Tashi Cell, NANO, DrukCom and the ICT officials of Government agencies.
The 2 day WSO2 workshop was graced and opened by the Hon'ble minister of MoIC on 13th May, 2019. The event was divided into 2 parts where the first day was mainly for the executives, where CEOs from local IT firms and executives from government agencies attended, followed by a technical session on the 2nd day to the ICT officials in the government, the corporate and the private agencies.
